Biography
Dr. Taniya Roy did her schooling from VMS and St. Johns Diocesan H.S School for Girls in Kolkata. She completed her graduation and post graduation degrees with first class in the subject of History from the Jadavpur University. She was awarded Mphil degree from JNU. She has also been a senior fellow of ICHR and was awarded doctoral degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She taught in Kamla Nehru College and Miranda House affiliated to the University of Delhi. Presently, she is a faculty member in the Dept of History of Asutosh College. Her research interest is primarily focused on gender studies and the social history of early India. She has been awarded with the best paper award in the gender history section from the Indian History Congress. Her researched essays have been recently published by EPW and Sage journal amongst others. Her monograph titled Representations of Marriage and Beyond: An investigation of Early Buddhist Textual Traditions got published by Primus, New Delhi in 2022.
